A journey where thrill meets tranquility, our Leh Ladakh Delhi Bike Trip with Umling La is designed for those who seek the extraordinary. Starting from the bustling capital city of Delhi, this route takes you through some of the most surreal landscapes in the country, offering the ultimate biking and backpacking experience in the Himalayas. The adventure kicks off with an overnight drive from Delhi to Manali, where the excitement of the trip truly begins. As you ascend into the mountains, you’ll be greeted by scenic routes, lush valleys, and rugged terrain that set the tone for what’s ahead.
Riding through the Atal Tunnel, Sissu, and Keylong, we enter the Lahaul region before reaching Jispa, a serene village surrounded by mountains. From there, the road to Leh is dotted with iconic pitstops—Baralacha La, Deepak Tal, Suraj Tal, Gata Loops, Nakee La, Lachung La, and Tanglang La—each more beautiful and challenging than the last. The cold desert terrain, the thin air, and the ever-changing landscape prepare you for Ladakh in all its raw beauty.
Once in Leh, the heart of the Ladakh region, we explore its cultural and historical gems—from Sangam, where the Zanskar and Indus rivers meet, to Magnetic Hill, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, and Hall of Fame. The blend of culture and adventure continues as we ride to Nubra Valley via Khardung La, one of the highest motorable roads in the world. Expect to experience double-hump camel rides, vast sand dunes at Hunder, and the calm vibes of Nubra’s unique desert-scape.
Next, we journey to the mesmerizing Pangong Tso, known for its ever-shifting blue hues and cinematic fame. Riding through Diskit Monastery on the way, the spiritual essence of Ladakh accompanies the natural grandeur. And just when you think the landscapes can’t get any more surreal, the road leads to Hanle, a remote gem on the ancient Silk Route and home to India’s highest astronomical observatory. The ultimate highlight of the trip is the ride to Umling La (19,024 ft)—the highest motorable pass in the world. Conquering this route is not just a badge of honor, but a soul-stirring experience that defines the spirit of high-altitude biking. After the adrenaline of Umling La, the return journey offers moments to reflect, with stops at Chumathang Village, known for its natural hot springs, as well as Shey Palace and Thiksey Monastery, steeped in Buddhist heritage. The route from Leh back to Sarchu and then Manali lets you relive the best of the Himalayas—More Plains, Gata Loops, and the legendary mountain passes.
From start to finish, the Leh Ladakh Delhi Bike Trip with Umling La isn’t just a road trip—it’s a rite of passage for every adventurer. From desert valleys and turquoise lakes to ancient monasteries and world-record roads, this trip redefines travel, adventure, and self-discovery.
