Rann of Kutch Tour Itinerary - Bhuj, Mandvi & Dhordo Tour (6N/7D)

The state of Gujarat is divided into three parts namely: Saurashtra, Magadh and Kutch. Saurashtra and Magadh traditionally are not a travel hotspot but Kutch definitely is. Kutch is renowned for its natural phenomena which is “The Great Rann of Kutch” which is a salt marsh in India which lies in the Thar Desert.

We begin our 6 nights 7 days tour of Rann of Kutch Tour from Bhuj. The city of Bhuj has an interesting play of both old world civilization and also modern day city. It is the birthplace of Harappan culture which is the oldest civilization of the world and is the testament to modern world civilization. Dholavira is an archaeological site which is located in the Kutch district of Gujarat. Dholavira tells the story of a world long gone, and which was quite efficient and intelligent in its use of huge water reservoirs with built-in filters.

The craftsmanship and the intricate planning which was done to build this ancient city still has experts holding their heads and people in awe after 5000 years. Mandvi is a 400 year old ship building port city which now has an amazing beach. You can stroll the beach or indulge in some beach activities which include ATV riding, surfing, boating amongst other activities.

Dhordo is known as the tent city of Gujarat and it comes up in winter. The Rann festival is a perfect blend of art, culture, handicrafts, cuisine which is showcased in Dhordo.

Next day, start your journey to Kalo Dungar which is the highest point in Rann of Kutch region and is about 49 kms from Dhordo.  Later visit white Rann of Kutch and the activities zone waiting for a stunning sunset. You can also go for camel ride, cart ride at Rann of Kutch. Eat from the local vendors to bring an end to an eventful day.

The best time to visit Kutch would be during the “Rann Mahotsav” which starts from mid November and lasts until February. During this time, the Rann of Kutch comes alive with many cultural and folk events taking place.
