Overview

The North East tour package takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya. From the vibrant cities to the remote villages, pristine lakes to cascading waterfalls, ancient monasteries to sacred temples, this package is a perfect blend of adventure, spirituality and relaxation.

Your journey begins in Guwahati, the largest city of Assam, located on the banks of the Brahmaputra River. Guwahati offers a mix of ancient temples and modern attractions. Guwahati is known for various holy sites, such as the Kamakhya temple, situated on the Nilachal Hill. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Kamakhya and attracts thousands of devotees. You can also explore the Kalakshetra, a cultural institution that showcases Assam’s rich history through art, dance, and exhibitions. Not only this, but you can also take an adventurous yet scenic Brahmaputra river cruise and boost your adrenaline rush.

Then you will proceed on your journey and reach the next destination, which is Dirang. It is a small hill station in the West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, known for its natural beauty and jaw-dropping landscapes. Explore Dirang monastery (Dirang Gompa), Dirang Dzong, a 150-year-old fort,  the best place for history buffs. Get enchanted by the rich flora of Dirang and stroll along the kiwi orchards. Moreover, in Dirang, you will visit the hot water springs, regional sheep farms, Sangti, and the Yak Research Center. You will be taken to Sangti Valley, where you will see a variety of fruits and Mandala Hilltop, which is famous for birdwatching. Later, you can also explore Lubrang Valley, where you can experience the rural lifestyle of the Monpa tribe.

The journey is not over yet. Heading towards the next destination with immense energy and positivity, you will drive to Tawang, which is the highlight of this North East trip, as you pass through the Sela Pass, which is located at an altitude of 13,700 feet. It offers majestic views of the eastern Himalayas. You can stop by the Sela Lake, which is a beautiful glacial lake that changes color with the sky. The next destination that you will visit with this North East package is Tawang. You will visit Tawang Monastery,  the largest monastery in India and the second largest in the world.

Another must-visit site is the Sangetsar Tso (Madhuri Lake), a serene lake formed by the earthquakes. Then you will take a scenic drive to  Bum La Pass, located near the Indo-China border, offering a thrilling experience with stunning views of the rugged terrain. On the way back, you will stop at Heart Lake, Panga Teng Tso Lake, and Gribtsang Tso (Nagula Lake), each offering breathtaking scenery and tranquillity. In the evening, you will visit the iconic Tawang War Memorial, followed by a peaceful stay at Tawang. Then you will proceed to Bomdila. En route, you will visit the famous places such as Nag Temple, Gontse Garden, Rabgye Ling Monastery and Nurang Waterfalls (Jung Falls). After arriving in Bomdila, you can explore its local markets, interact with the Monpa tribe, and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys.

The remaining journey takes you through Tezpur, then Shillong and lastly Cherrapunji. Tezpur is the cultural hub of Assam. You will visit Mahabhairab Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the Agnigarh, the hilltop fortress offering picturesque views of the Brahmaputra River. Then, proceed to Shillong, also known as the “Scotland of India”; it is the capital of Meghalaya. You will stop at Umiam Lake, famous for its crystal-clear water, where you can enjoy activities like speed boating and kayaking. Shillong is a charming hill station with colonial-era architecture, bustling markets, and vibrant cafes. And a visit to the Elephant Falls, a three-tiered cascading waterfall, is a must.  The next destination of your Northeast tour package is Cherrapunjee, which is around 60 kms away from Shillong. Cherrapunjee is famous for its heavy rainfall and mesmerizing landscapes. Here, you can visit the Nohkalikai Falls, the highest plunge waterfall in India, and the Mawsmai Caves, a network of limestone caves that provide an adventurous experience. Take a hike to Rainbow Falls; you can explore other attractions in Cherrapunjee, including  Seven Sisters Waterfall, Eco Park, Wei Sawdong Falls, Arwah Cave, Wah-Kaba Falls, and the Garden of  Caves.

The journey has not ended yet, you will visit the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong, which is going to be an unforgettable experience because you will explore the village on foot. The village has clean pathways, bamboo houses and blooming gardens, which will captivate you with their charm. Take a walk to the Living Root Bridge and enjoy the hospitality of the Khasi people. Visit the Balancing Rock and the Sky Viewpoint (Nohwet Viewpoint), and the final leg of your tour takes you through the small town of Dawki, located near the Bangladesh border. Here, you can experience boating on the Umngot River, famous for its crystal-clear waters where boats appear to float on air.
