Lamayuru or Yuru Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist Monastery at an elevation of 3,510mts. It holds the distinction of being the Largest and the oldest monasteries in Ladakh with 150 monks residing here. According to legends, Lamayuru Valley was a lake filled with serpents. Arahat Madhyantika, a person responsible for spreading Buddhism made some offering to the Nagas here and with the crack of his walking stick, a hole was made and all the water was drained out. Since that incident, the place is considered holy and sacred.  Leh, the highest plateau in the Himalayas of India is a desert city, is the capital of northern India’s Ladakh UT(Union Territory). Originally a stop for trading caravans, Leh is now known for its Buddhist sites and nearby trekking areas. Hunder is famous for its sand dunes and “Bactrian camels”, also known as Double humped camels. The area near Hunder is quite barren, but once you enter Hunder, it is quite green and there are many farms and cultivable land available here which makes it a soothing experience for your tired eyes. Pangong Lake is situated at an altitude of 4,350mts and is a saline lake. It is 134kms long and extends from India into China.
